There are several reasons why Agile assessment is needed in every organization that is undergoing Agile transformation. But the main aim of this is to let us know, that we want to know something about the ability of someone or something.

Agile assessment is a tool that helps assist in guiding a team or an organization that is undergoing Agile Transformation. As an experienced coach, it’s an invaluable mechanism to communicate the Transformation strategy and to measure progress of every team and organization.

Agile Transformation

While many organizations have teams working in an agile way, only a few businesses have been able to implement this across their entire enterprise. As an organization move from implementing agile on various projects to portfolios and, ultimately, to the entire organization, more core processes need to be adapted.

Enterprise Transformation

The large-scale agile transformation isn’t just about technology. It’s about a new way of thinking, the lean way. It’s more collaborative, more open, more creative, and much more efficient than other business models. This way of thinking needs to be implemented across an organization.

Companies can achieve agile transformation at three levels:

  1. The project level, which is relatively easy to accomplish.
  2. The portfolio level, which is more complex.
  3. The organizational level, which requires a complete rethinking of a company’s operating model.
Ultimately, creating a more agile way of thinking takes about two to three years to complete, but meaningful results can be achieved in as little as six months depending on an organization’s starting point and level of internal support.

When undergoing Agile Transformation:

  1. You should Empower Product Ownership, the Product Owner should be able to make decisions about the scope, timing and budget allocation.
  2. The team should be cross functional and dedicated. Work should be completed in fixed-length iterations, and a working prototype should be created after each iteration. Design and prioritization decisions are then informed by the feedback and results from the demonstrations of the product.
  3. Continuous improvement is always the best way of achieving quality. Agile is, by definition, not static. Teams are constantly identifying ways to become more productive by tweaking and tuning their environment and the way they work.
